Runes Tracy Thomas BlazeVOX [books]

Tracy Thomas' poetry takes us to places we've never been even as we feel we've been there before. Sometimes mystical, sometimes comical, sometimes frightening and always overwhelming. His juxtapositions are dizzying, he creates language you can dance to. Tracy is an artist who is fully in control of his craft. His words grasp ahold of the human condition as he creates a sense of isolation, elation, sorrow and sacredness; life filled simultaneously  with laughter and tears.

—Jack Evans

Tracy Thomas' wonderful new book, Runes, is gloriously multi-faceted and various, both deeply personal and deeply social. There is so much to delight in: so many versions of history, of the stories we tell ourselves.  In the permeable membrane between public and private space, Thomas finds an expansive and capacious intertextuality that moves from the microcosmic to the macrocosmic. Each poem becomes a lens through which we apprehend both the world and the perception of self. This is a wonderful and transforming first book.

—Geoffrey Gatza

Tracy Thomas grew up in the western United States: Colorado, Wyoming, California before settling in Youngtown, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. His poems have appeared in Exquisite Corpse, The Southern Review and The Journal.
