Suspended Imagination by Florine Melnyk

$16.00

"Suspended Imagination is a wild read. Risky, provocative, cheerfully over-the-edge, at their best these poems are filled with music, humor, and imagination. Always alert for new ways to give form to the wild and strange, Florine Melnyk offers two of the most high-spirited sestinas you'll ever come across and throws in a fine nonce-sestina that engages the reader in a sort of mad treasure hunt for fun and meaning." — Theodore Deppe

If there exists a magical hinge (as surely there must in the imagination) by which thought and language open each other’s door, Florine Melnyk’s poems swing by way of it. Whether opening onto spaces of meditative silence or smitten wordsmithery, employing words precisely distilled or richly mixed and stirred, the poems in Suspended Imagination invite us to dwell in the possibilities to be found in “a language no longer languishing.”

--Jeanne Marie Beaumont

Florine Melnyk writes poems that continually raise the word ante. She has the wit and imagination to make good on every improvisation and to never let the energy flag. Within the panache dwells a rarity, a philosopher-poet who can take on the likes of Descartes and walk away smiling.
